Sennheiser HD 800 review

With the incredible popularity of the HD 650's it was only a matter of time before Sennheiser was going to put out something better and more expensive, but still achievable for us little audio lovers . It is a rather big jump to go from the HD 650's to the Orpheus/HE-1 models, so the HD 800 was a great next step when they were released in 2009.

Sennheiser HD 800 review - Design and Build Quality

The Sennheiser HD 800 headphones are built to last, with a combination of premium materials and expert craftsmanship. The plastic headphone cups are lightweight and durable, while the earpads are soft and comfortable for long listening sessions. The adjustable metal band provides a comfortable fit for all head sizes, but be mindful that if you lean over/down too far these cans might just fall off. The thick tangle-free cable is great quality and adds to the overall durability of the headphones.

Sennheiser HD 800 review - Comfort

The HD 800s are comfortable to wear, even for extended periods of time. The big ear cups are designed to fit most head sizes, and the soft alcantara ear pads reduce listener fatigue. The adjustable headband allows for a customizable fit for all head sizes that we know of.

Sennheiser HD 800 review - Sound Quality

The HD 800’s are equipped with Sennheiser's advanced driver technology and a large 56mm diaphragm, delivering clear and precise sound that is sure to impress even the most discerning audiophile. Their open-back design provides a spacious and natural sound stage. The angled design of the headphones directs sound into the ear, providing a more immersive listening experience akin to speakers in a room. The bass is deep and punchy, while the clarity and detail are exceptional.

Sennheiser HD 800 review - Compatibility

The HD 800’s and its 6.3mm cable jack are compatible with a variety of high-end audio systems, and even though they can go mobile with an adapter, the whole street will hear you coming from a mile away. This could be embarrassing if your phone has notifications on and Mommy rings. These are definitely meant to be used in your sound cave.

Sennheiser HD 800 review - Final verdict

The Sennheiser HD 800 headphones are a premium set of over-ear headphones with exceptional sound quality. The specially designed ear pads ensure a comfortable fit for extended listening sessions. The HD 800's build quality is top-notch, with a combination of metal and high-quality plastic materials used to construct the headphones.
